Abstract

This poster focuses on the development of sampling and testing techniques for heavy metals in Coal run Hollow; a small stream running through Fairmont WV that has been heavily polluted in the past.  The stream is on its way to recovery but continues to have issues.  As part of the recovery process we are developing methods to monitor the concentrations of metals such as Fe, Cu and Pb in the stream using atomic absorption spectroscopy.  This includes sampling procedures and testing protocols that include calibration curves, standard addition methods and pre-concentration of samples.
