NSF-STEP to Success Grant
- Successes, trials and tribulations of administering a teaching grant
In 2013 we received an NSF-STEP Grant of $500,000 for the following five years to improve our STEM program admission and graduation rates. Two of the main purposes of this grant is to conduct a summer bridge math program for incoming STEM students who do not qualify for college level math classes and also to run a support program in STEM classes; the other one is the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program which is a series of weekly study sessions available to support students in specific courses during the semester.
In this presentation we would like to share our experiences, successes and failures in implementing this grant, lessons learned and suggestions on how better to prepare for similar projects in future.
