Analytical chemistryAbstract
Methyl salicylate is formed via a simple esterification reaction between methanol and salicylic acid. This reaction has several variables which we are studying to determine the best method for synthesizing methyl salicylate in the lab setting. We are using both a chemical standard and a naturally derived essential oil for comparison.
